Melbourne Direct August 17, 2006 ![]() Saucerlike Recordings has released “Melbourne Direct" – a double LP with four tracks of improvised noise-scapes by Thurston, Lee, Steve and Jim. Kim, who did not attend the recording, designed the artwork for the cover. The album that was recorded direct to acetate is limited to 800 copies. After getting your copy here, you can check out some music from The Stabs which are the guys who run saucerlike recordings. ![]() |
Thanks Moshe!

Very cool.
Nelson says Sonic Youth plan to sell 100 copies of the record on website sonicyouth.com and keep 100; he has some copies for a US distributor, and the remainder will go to local record shops. ^From the "Vinyl's last stand" article. I guess you can buy it direct from Saucerlike as well. |

Sir, we are waiting to hear the first review. |
I haven't the time to post a lengthy review at the moment, but on first listen, it's fantastic. Quite melodic. There's even acoustic guitars on there occasionally, which makes me very happy.
|
Niiiiice. Some acoustic sounds very good.
|
Wholy fuck, I recieved this fucker today!!!
My firstr listen right now is the side with thurston's picture on it and yes sir it delivers... what springs to mind right know is Dean Roberts' White-Winged Moth back in the days --- and that's a good thing. Oh shit and it keeps getting better apparently. Will report again on full listen! |
I'm still waiting for my copy :(
|
Well, I never expected it to arrive at all. i hadn't heard anything from saucerlike recordings. Yours will arrive as well Moshe, I'm pretty sure you ordered it on time.
Meanwhile I'm on side three which is quite melodic indeed as sonicl mentioned so i'm guessing that this side is one of the first to be played as there is no indication of side 1 2 3 or 4. Just a picture of each player respectively. |
