if i make it out i'll try to take some notes for y'all |
this is ONE instance where i wouldn't mind seeing a sea of youtube archivists with their phone cameras held up to record the entire event...i wish he'd done something similar when he played here last year! it's rare i wish i lived in calgary...

I audio and videotaped both shows! Coming soon...
P.S. I have finally just about finished the Montreal Osheaga 2006 DVD! (Don't worry though. It's not gonna take me 5 years to do the Lee DVDs! They will be ready before the new year. I am now working my way backwards with authoring my Sonic DVDs in the pipeline.) |

Thanks a lot for your efforts, glad someone documented those things. Virtual high-five + hug. |

lee talked a bit about film/music relationships. he mentioned stan brakhage and said the film playing during his set the previous night was by pierre clementi
he spoke shortly about john cage appearing on a tv show, and about the 20th century music influence and his interest in things like non-notation scores he talked about using the screwdriver. i think he said it's most effective at the 9th fret, and he mentioned liking the 12th fret harmonics he shortly discussed room tones, and trying to use the room to yr advantage while improvising he played his guitar with felt tip mallets and a violin bow, also he put his cell phone speaker up to his frets to play recordings off of it he showed this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=832ApdjhMcs i can't find the video but he showed one of sonic youth playing in japan, with afrirampo he talked shortly about pedals, said he had 2 delays, 2 overdrives, a bluebox fuzz and a ring modulator, said they were all analog and he prefers simple pedals that do one thing well, over ones with a lot of options his guitar was tuned dafaad. he mentioned liking to sometimes have 2 strings tuned to the same note any mistakes or misunderstandings are my own fault, d'oh |
Thanks for sharing
