recommend me some movies

(EDIT: wtf was this thread? #3)

i've been away from watching movies for a while.

i'm mainly looking for some beautiful & mindblowing shit.. preferably with the same kinda dark, fucked up vibe as these ones, but not neccessarily:

(Possession by Andrzej Zulawski)

How's the Naked Lunch movie? I really like the book, but how in hell can it be a movie?

Mulholland Drive

I haven't seen Naked or Posession so it's hard for me to recommend anything based off of those.

It's very tasteful. Cronenberg realized it'd be near-impossible to make a film version of Naked Lunch, and chose to focus the film rather on Burroughs writing the novel instead.

Very cool stuff. One of his best.

I actually haven't read the book, but the movie is brilliant.
Really fucked up, I love it!

only Desperate Living, but i loved it. i will definitely watch the other ones. i'm wondering if they can get even weirder hah.
if you haven't seen Naked or Possession - well i just can't recommend a movie more. both are classics.
Mulholland Drive is of course one of my all time favs.

Naked Lunch seems super interesting..
has anyone seen that 90's Beat movie with Courtney Love?

Trying to think of films that'd suit a fan of Pink Flamingos, Naked and Possession is impossible so I've listed some that are similar to each.

Pink Flamingoes: any Waters' obviously, but especially Female Trouble; the stuff Paul Morrissey did with Warhol; anything by the Kuchar brothers; some old 70s porn.

Naked: I can only think of Gasper Noe's I Stand Alone.

Possession: Hard to think of anything remotely like it. Maybe something by Jorge Buttgereit, like the Nekromantik films.

I've been dying to watch the first two in your list... I've seen pink flamingos and I can't really say it was my thing. haha. I have a lot of respect for John Waters, but my stomach cannot handle Pink Flamingos... if you liked it, you might like a film that I've seen a few people mention on this board called the bride of frank.

some of my favorites are: Videodrome, Wild at Heart, Persona, Migrating Forms, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Days of Being Wild, Blade Runner, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, The Holy Mountain.

"preferably with the same kinda dark, fucked up vibe as these ones"

not really "fucked up", but VIVRE SA VIE is a pretty dark film.. for godard anyways. I definitely recommend it. The camerawork is unbelievable

Definitely watch The Holy Mountain, as well as El Topo. Alejandro Jodorowsky is a wizard.

"Santa Sangre" as well. Plus an anime called "Perfect Blue".

El topo is the one with the little naked boy? That movie was so boring I turned it off after 20 minutes. Life is too short.

I watched Machete last night, now there is a FILM.

I definitely agree. First time I saw it I kept saying "wow" every 2 minutes... I just feel that it sort of goes down hill towards the end... same with el topo.. the pacing just throws me off. Both are still 2 of the best films I've ever seen.
