:( I Dislike the Whitey Album
it's quite retarded.. il speak more on this tomorrow.
(and get flamed) For being a dickhead |
Aw, not even Addicted To Love?
im sorry ya feel that way! there is some crazy shit on there. i guess i can see why some dont like it. but as crazy as the tracks are, theyre intense! i would have at least expected you to like (silence)
You can't hate on Burnin Up!
i like it lots! i really like good remakes of pop songs(call me silly). i've asked before about the "toxic" cover that someone did accoustically that was pretty good, if anyone knew who did the cover? anyway, back to the subject at hand; the whitey album is so rythmic and penetrating. i am still exploring its depths.

You gotta like Macbeth, right?
Macbeth is Grade A Rock 'n' Motherfucking Roll
whitey album suits me just fine./ It's really out there, that's way cool with me. me and jill/hendrix crosby, macbeth, g-firce, burning up... so great. But it's cool if you don't like it... I've had trouble getting some people to like teenage riot (insane, i know).
it's actually my favorite SY album.
MacBeth and G-Force are the shit... a lot of that album sounds a tad throwaway to my ears (that's the point right?) and i haven't spun it in a long while...
i read a cool review where the guy reviewing it compared it to sgt. pepper. because they beatles wanted to be someone else, as well as sonic youth. here's a link

Macbeth is the pinnacle. Burnin Up is fucking amazing. the skronk levels are at 11 on much of it.
INTO THE GROOVEY is the fucking best madonna cover ever ever ever |
It has some amazing material, some pretty good material, and some shit. But the good material far outweighs the bad.
Yeah, I remember getting the Whitey Album, years ago, hearing it was like a joke album. I was like "awesome the things gonna be real silly, they're covering madonna and stuff." Then I listened to it and found it to be real dense with some fucking crazy ass beatbox sounds and fucked up guitars. Took me awhile to get into it, but its pretty radical, overall. I know they were being kind of goofy with some of it but I think its backed up w/ some really odd experimental stuff. And in this case I think experimental truly applies to Sonic Youth cause I think they were really experimenting with some technology they weren't used to using.
