Sonic Matters, Sonic Kollaborations
Hi people.
What's the deal with the different editions?? EH? Confused. Thanks in advance. |
yes... further investigation is definitely required...
|
from what i gathered in my extensive independent research ... the 2nd pressing includes 'murray street' stuff?! the one i have ends in june 2000, w/ 'nyc ghosts' stuff. i love this book.

Long story short:
there are at least 2 different editions, one which "ends" roughly with NYC G&F stuff (june 2000), and one with some extra things (roughly "pre-Murray Street", or "Murray Street-contemporary" I gather?), here: http://www.printedmatter.org/catalog...title_id=87378 they talk about colored back cover along with extras: " Second edition features some new, very much bonus, materials and color xerox back cover." Does anybody have one of those? I don't feel like paying 100$ (book + shipping + import taxes) for ten more xeroxed pages bwwahahaha, I wanna KNOW!! edit: Chris, I was typing while you posted, heh! |
I have just reread the current Printed Matter blurb and they are calling it the "Second printing of the second edition" dated 2008.
My copy is dated confusingly March 2002, March 09 2006, and October 14 2008. But I don't have a colour back page. There is a written page from Lee informing Todd (From Printed Matter?) about the additional stuff for the second edition which includes... "yr recent letters, KJ+L score notes for the new LP, some working lyric sheets w/vocal take marks on etc..." The second edition has clearly been re-xeroxed a few times... |
So, looks like we can safely assume the "extra" stuff is from after NYC G&F till the "making of" of MS...I kinda hope that's the case. I was afraid of extra things scattered all along the sy-timeline hehe.
I love this book too. Ah, looks like the spiral bounding is different for the second edition, you can spot how it looks in the images they display on the site, for the first edition the "spacing" of the spiral is wider...Not that it's the most meaningful of differences, but hey, it's almost 1 am, I need rest, ok? |
Dude, get yer rest...Reggie Watts.
I don't have my copy handy, but I'm damn sure it doesn't have a color back page. |
missed out on these, kicking self now
i did get a lyric/image zine w/ order of rather ripped though. could that be among the latest revisions? |
