Not to mention the recent discussions, in China in particular, of "dividing" the internet according to global location. "Slippery slope" comes to mind.

By the way, I know that article is from 2003, but the issue has arisen again, and it was the most descriptive article I could find.

I don't know what to think of the internet being taken over by the goverment. I higly doubt it, but it is a possibilty. It could be like 1984.
