Cat Power gig in london on wednesday?
Anyone else going?
![]() Wednesday 1st November at the Roundhouse, chalk farm road, London http://www1.roundhouse.org.uk/whatso...f=511&prod=240 |
I've seen it advertized.I was thinking about going today, actually.
|
as long as she stays sober it should be a great show!
|
From what i've heard of people dealing with it while she's drunk,it can be a complete nightmare to get her onstage.
|
yeah, she forgets the words, asks the audience what the words are then disagrees with their answers. she will start a song then drift off into another song, or just stop playing all together.
theres some footage of stuff like this on youtube. |
i was gonna go to the berlin one but its 37 euros which is about £26.

wow, thats alot more expensive, are most gigs over there that expensive? |
not everything no, smaller bands are generally quite cheap. erase eratta last week was about £6 and that was a lot for the venue and everything. even sonic you are not that expensive.
hope that she's good. |
i will report back.
|
It was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!, she's so great and funny and happy, it was so nice to see this person that i look up to so much and thought was really unhappy and depressed being so lively and funny! YAY!!!!!
|
I saw her and even though she was sober she didn't finish a single song. She was still wonderful.
|
i have a ticket for amsterdam tomorrow... bought it in advance in case it would sell out, but now i'm not sure if i regret it because i found out afterwards that elsewhere joe mcphee is playing... i've seen chan a couple of times before; joe mcphee never and i already missed him once this year.
hopefully she won't be drunk tomorrow. |

glad you enjoyed it. i saw that she added another date in london. the next gig i am looking forward to is mv/ee medecine show, hopefully a little more affordable. |
I'm so jealous...
|
Ditto. I love her so.
|
I hear she's shit live but one day i'll see it for myself.Whoarghhhhhhhhhhhhaa ahahahahahahahahahahaha
|
I had a ticket for the show at The Barbican that got cancelled in the spring. I never bothered re-booking when the date was re-arranged, because I didn't fancy the idea of seeing her with a big professional band. I'd love to see her solo though. I saw her do one song (I arrived late), just her and piano, when she did a support slot for Patti Smith and that was pretty cool.
|
i didn't really fancy that idea either, but last friday in amsterdam it didn't turn out too bad. I prefer her solo gigs or when she's backed by a smaller band though; the memphis rhythm band had no less than 11 people, including a strings trio, a horns duo and two backing singers. i thought her voice was lost in between all that at times and sometimes the unnecessary arrangements just ruined the song, like with cross bones style.
the best parts for me were those where she played just by herself on piano or guitar (about 5-6 songs), especially when she did wild is the wind. that's also one of my favourite (cover)songs by her. she even got all of paradiso quiet during some songs, an event that can be rarely witnessed. all in all not the best gig i've seen of her, but still pretty good. worth mentioning is that with band she did a funny cover of that recent top 40 song, "does that make me craaaaazyyy?" (dunno who sings it) |
actually just listen for yourself...
for those interested, the entire paradiso concert from last friday is up for streaming now here http://3voor12.vpro.nl/speler/ondemand/31125350 |
