Venice : your opinion on this city.
 

Sonicl (hi there !) made me think about this today...
i live like 40 km away from venice, and i can go there for a walk everytime i want.now i'm curious about how you guys from around the world "percieve" this city...

I dunno b/c haven't had interest in the city.

I've never been but i'd love to visit before i die.

a great city, a legendary city, with centuries of debauchery inscribed in every wall... what's not to like?

i've never actually been there, and maybe it stinks & all, but i want to make the trip, no question.

I'm thinking I'd feel mighty uneasy there, though maybe not.

Dunno. I've never been there, but it must be amazing.

I've been twice and I love the place. It's not just Venice itself, and certainly not just St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge (stunning as they are), it's the whole atmosphere of the place, the architecture, and the beauty of the lagoon and the islands. When we went there was an exceptionally high tide and the city flooded - it was one of the most incredible sights. I'll see if I can find my photos and post a couple.

i prefer Amsterdam.

I've never been there before, but it is def. in the top 5 or so cities I want to see.

wouldn't mind going there, but that's what i also would've said about rome or florence... i haven't visited italy yet, only passed through it once.

pkkeherrie, there are many beautiful "famous" cities to visit here in italy, and sooo many amazing little towns noboy heard of... i suggest you guys to check monteriggioni, it's out of this world, but hardly known around the world...maybe because it's sooooo little...
