ok lights and drinking are ok. time off work is good also but the rest of it. humbug.

i fucking hate it too. the stupidest fucking ritual ever.

but will inevitably have to take part since i live with family members.

I think the fact that they're celebrating it 2 months prior is what's ruining it for you. It's waaayyy too commercialized in this day and age.

I hate Christmas also, except for the one actual day of Christmas, and the piss-ups immediately previous and post.

I just hate what has become of it, and I hate it when more than one of my older siblings come, because then there will be some discontent.

What you could do is have a minimalist christmas.

Yeah instead of a big dinner and all that crap. And do cheap gifts as well, or set it up to find something that has meaning for people in your family and give them that. I mean give them gifts that are not frivolous, and actually has a meaning, like a book your wife loves, so on.

I like Christmas dinner but hate that feeling afterwards when you have eaten it and piled a load of Christmas pud and Pringles on top and it feels like you are about to explode.

Generally Christmas is rubbish though and I won't get time off work because I lost my job the other day. Every day is Christmas as far as I'm concerned.

I love X-Mas. Being with family, good food, awesome presents, time off school, etc.

Commercialization's a bitch, but there isn't a single holiday that hasn't been raped of it's original meaning. It really is no use to complain, because capitalism is, unfortunately, the chosen force of the so-called developed nations.

everone always says its about being with your family. but what happens if you dont like your family?
