I'm so indie, I'm not even going to reply to this thread.

ha ha. exactly!!!! i hate those fuckers.

i hate when i ask someone what about their favourite music genres an they answer: INDIE!

and then they go on to list a bunch of bands that ARE NOT INDIE!!!!!!!!!

In terms of music it's never been as such but it certainly spread many an annoying attitute that got emabraced by your more curious music fan.

not quite as irritating as the word 'emo' though...

but still irritating.

I realize it's totally indie to hate "indie," but as a genre, it works better than just "rock," or "pop," and there is no use denying it.

It's the same thing as alternative but with a different name. Personally indie sounds better.

i can't even stand to listen to most "indie" anymore. it's so boooooooring. random handclaps/synthesizers/dance punk/stupid vocals/irony. it's all so tired and contrived.

I'm so indie I have to say I like pop music.

Is it still cool to be Indie?

Yes. But you have to pretend to not be indie to be indie. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation.
