Muddy Waters- Electric Mud Album

check out this article i wrote about the album here--> http://www.furious.com/perfect/muddy...ectricmud.html

For those who don't know about the record basically muddy's music is given a acid rock feel so its more appealing to hendrix fans.It was an experiment muddy supported but his traditional blues fans hated. Its a great record though full of distorted guitar and mindblowing solos.I highly reccomend checking it out.

I downloaded it a while ago. It's good that he was trying something different, but for a Muddy Waters album I expected more.

These are more my style:

dazedcola, I reccomend watching the Martin Scorsese blues documentaries if you haven't already.
On a related note: Bob Dylan jams some Muddy covers on Modern Times

When it comes to Muddy Waters I always just stick with the Chess Box.

What I've heard of it is pretty great. My friend has a vinyl reissue which is really nice as well.

Good record. ''Tomcat'' is probably my favorite song on it. That album has a lot of good breaks on it if you are into that sort of thing.

dazedcola, nice job on the article, accurate and thorough.

Great album, rock rather than blues, but that's cool too. Love the liner art, Muddy's hair under construction.

The film with Chuck D was interesting, don't know if any of you saw it. some of the stuff they were jamming sounded real good but the actual version of Mannish Boy with common & rhazel etc was awful. Instead of going the Electric Mud direction & making it funky they just rapped uncomfortably over a bog-standard blues beat. Just seemed like wasted potential.

Nice article, but unconvincing. This record sullied an otherwise (nearly) unblemished career. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it an "unlistenable."

By the way, the all out worst cracker-white blues band that I ever heard in my entire life (in Columbus, OH) fucking NAMED themselves Electric Mud. To each their own...

dazedcola 12.08.2006 04:16 PM

this is a great record, just dont think of it as a muddy waters one, cause essentially it isn't.Think of instead as a psychedelic rock record from the 60s and you'll realize its genius.
