indians = oppressed

whitie = the elite

hence the favored look. some countries worse than others.

think the u.s. before affirmative action. except that in latin america the "minorities" are actually majorities-- so it's extra-weird.

Yeah, I mean it is weird that the majority are dark skin hispanics. Also in the news only light skin hispanics are shown.

well it's not "weird"

think of the old south-- the white master surrounded by hundreds of slaves. similarly, latin american countries have been feudal until recent times.

Everytime I watch one of those programs I don't see my mother in there. I see my father, I and my brothers. Usually when they represent indigenous people like my mom they are dumb, and not very knowledgeable.

So true. But it is funny because most americans don't think this kind of racism doesn't exist in Latin America.

it's worse in latin america, in a way-- we've had no equivalent to malcom x for example-- problem is, the sort of discontent generated by this gets funneled through shitty ideologies like communism...

And we all know communism is not going to work, it will just be the end.

Dark skin hispanics are not equally portrayed in Latin America's T.V.
