The book is set to be titled "Girl in a Band" and will reportedly chronicle "Gordon’s decision to leave her native Los Angeles for New York to pursue a life as an artist, the formation of Sonic Youth in post-punk New York of the early 1980s, her marriage to band mate Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth’s mentoring of young bands like Nirvana, Hole and many others, and the eventual dissolution of the relationship and her band."

This could be cool. I suspect it'll be a year before it comes out, mind.

ugh, really? i dunno... doesn't sound like something i have much interest in reading... (referring to the dissolution of her marriage and the band)

and hasn't the SY story been told a few times? circa 1980-2011... okay, maybe there is some new interesting details from her perspective.

As for the SY side of it (not the personal side), hearing the story from a member of the band's perspective would almost have to offer something new and interesting.

For many bands I wouldn't want to read multiple versions of the stories - but I feel like SY have come from so many different angles, I'd actually love to read a book from each of them - on their feelings about coming to the band and the trajectory from there - would be pretty cool IMHO.
