...I look forward to the day when I get me some live Prurient...

Thanks for the obligatory shitty quality video clip.

His set at ATP was great:)
Nice leather glove...

jon boy 12.15.2006 11:03 AM

i saw him a few times in leeds but he was marred by technical problems so his sets were very short. what i saw was very good.

sun city girl 12.15.2006 02:32 PM

funny that he always has those black gloves... but great stuff.

PAULYBEE2656 12.15.2006 07:30 PM

dom is a happy chappy isnt he. i will see live prurient sometime im sure. nice pics

I saw him play about a month ago at this small theatre. The level of brutality wasn't on a par with that no fun fest clip where he is raging shirtless, but I still enjoyed it a lot. Nihilistic frenzy.
And it was loud too, you could feel the low end noises in your flesh.

After the gig I bought Pleasure Ground and it's fucking harsh.

I saw him open for Wolf Eyes once. It hurt my ears.
I think I'm finally too old (22.9) to understand what the kids are listening to.

SuperCreep 02.19.2009 06:22 AM

Yeah, he's great live. It's a shame the energy of his show doesn't translate as well on record.

whorefrost - I was at the same Dead C gig too - brilliant. I loved the way that Bruce Russell rolled and smoked endless joints onstage. Also, the bouncers and staff loathed them - ha! I saw them play in Kilburn a few days after, and if anything they were even better.

Nefeli - I like the "Death Unit" LP that Dominik put out on Hospital Records - worth tracking down....not a pure Prurient release per se, but still a killer album, methinks. The "Pleasure Ground" CD gets 2 thumbs up from me, too.

MellySingsDoom 02.19.2009 07:18 AM

^^^It sure was! ATP 2008 was pretty nifty too, methinks.

I saw Prurient a couple of years ago w/Burning Star Core and Consumer Electronics - tip-top fun all round. Black gloves very much in evidence - our party referred to Prurient as Alvin Stardust for the rest of the evening :D CE was great too - I like me some solo Philip Best shenanigans.

blunderbuss 02.19.2009 08:21 AM

Melly - are you aware that Mr Fernow is playing in London relatively soon?

MellySingsDoom 02.19.2009 08:35 AM

blunderbuss - no! When is he playing, sir?

EDIT - have found out - 20 May at the Grosvenor, Stockwell.

blunderbuss 02.19.2009 08:58 AM

I can't remember - it's posted in the London gig guide thread.

whorefrost 02.19.2009 09:05 AM

Still looking forward to the Prurient/Thurston disk which has meant to be coming out on Ecstatic Peace for a while.
Prurient/Hotoguisu collab is fucking gnarly, dense heavy fucknoise. And Hospital is generally a sweet label, nice releases from Magik Markers, New Blockaders, Double Leopards...

have you seen that video of him playing in a book store somewhere? when he was 14 or something? hilarious.

Glice 02.21.2009 10:00 PM

I saw Prurient supporting Merzbow last year. Or it might have been Kevin Drumm. Either way I wandered out in mild boredom.
