How would you rate your own IQ?
Poll on the way.

There's smarter people than James Blonde.

Based on the amount of idiots I come across in everyday life I'd like to think I'm at least slightly above average... I'd hope so anyway.

Only a dumby compares/evaluates their intelligence.

Not that high probably ... I'm rather interested in talking to people, who were good at history and not necessarily in maths anyway. But who am I telling this anyway?

Do you mean the ability to be funny, or the type of funny? A very unintelligent person may find the humour of an intelligent person non-existent but find the humour of his equally unintelligent friend hilarious. And vice versa.
We all have it within us to be funny, but the quality of the humour depends on the audience. |
dont they say that scarcasm is the lowest form of wit?
|
i know plenty of people who are very intelligent and find virtually nothing funny.
|
I would say that the higher the intelligence of a person the wider the range of humour he or she will be able to recognise, but quite possibly the lower the range of humour that he or she will actually be amused by. For instance, I consider myself intelligent and able to recognise fairly subtle humour that a less intelligent person may miss and take literally, but there is alot of humour that I can recognise as being supposed to be funny, but I do not find it funny myself (e.g. many sitcoms).
There are also cultural differences involved too, not only in terms of cultural references but also in the way that a remark might be understood. Something that a European might say might be taken as humourous by another European but totally missed by an American, and again vice-versa. That is something that I see happening quite a lot on this board. |
if the crystal maze ever made a comeback you would be a great contestant sonicl.

I have a feeling you're responding to a post that I've deleted, aren't you? But thank you anyway.
