I've been reading cyberpunk since 88 or so. I've never heard of the 2 people above. My understanding is cyberpunk originally revolved around a core of 5 writers: Gibson, BRUCE STERLING, RUDY RUCKER, LOUIS SHINER and JOHN SHIRLEY. Vernor Vinge is thought to have written the first actual "jack-in" type story. did Dozois work with Sterling? But they refer back to some of the 'new wave " of scifi from the 60's, people like Norman Spinrad or Charles Platt or PKD. I don't believe PKD was in anyway cyberpunk, if anything he was a metaphysician disguised as a novelist. John Shirley's recent "lost cyberpunk"
Black Glass was pretty cool, but
City Come a Walkin was actually published in 1980 - 30 years ago! If you haven't read the core books of this group from the 1980's youre talking around the subject.
