1. civ 1 (in 1995 it was like an alien invention)
2. civ 2 (my favorite to play)
3. alpha centauri (political values! this became the engine for civ3)
4. civ 4 warlords
5. civ 4 (i skipped civ 3 while in grad school)
6. rome total war (finally on mac)

i'm sort of monomaniacal in my video game tastes: turn-based strategy or nothing. probably having to do with my poor eye/hand coordination at high speeds. although i completed "thief 2" a long time ago. it was a nice fucking game.
