okay.. so in australia there is only gsm ( as it should be)

.. coming to usa I am struggling with the ridiculousness of half networks being cdma and half being gsm thus most people having to replace phones if they want to switch networks..

anyway.. at&t is exorbitant, and after speaking with someone about plans, I have decided to not use them on principal.. Something I was paying $59 for in australia ( where most things are tripple the cost they are here in usa) would be costing me $109 before tax here. Ouch. It bothers me that a monopoly is costing all of you at least an extra $60 a month, because they could provide it for a lot less if there were competition. Anyway..

They only other providor that I seem to have found is T-mobile. (being gsm is important because if I end up with a new phone I want to be able to use it world wide, and gsm is the best technology to enable that. I dont believe in getting a new phone every two months, just because.. resources, etc)

Does anyone here use them? I am ultimately considering abandoning our use of 'smart' phones in USA as they are running on a considerably stupid network.
