Eating foods high in trans-fats and saturated fats increases the risk of depression, according to a Spanish study published in the US Wednesday, confirming previous studies that linked "junk food" with the disease. Researchers also showed that some products, such as olive oil, which is high in healthy omega-9 fatty acids, can fight against the risk of mental illness.

It makes sense.

I read in a paper years ago Polyethylene Terephthalate, which is commonly used for carbonated beverages and water bottles, can cause depression in people. Something to do with it slowly leaking into the beverage or water. The longer it remains on the shelf, the worse it is. It even has a detrimental effect on the taste of the beverage or water the longer it remains on the shelf. I couldn't help but notice nothing more was said about it. No doubt the industry quickly covered it up.
