I remember Fusion being a bit easier for me than the original/zero mission, II, and super... but I'd already beaten all those by the time I played it.
Basically, when you get the ball, just look and see if there was a small shift you couldn't get in/under earlier. Then make the ball and get in. The entire game progresses not unlike Zelda.. you see something you can't cross, get a certain powerup, then you can cross it.. a whole new WORLD opens up with each new powerup (if y'all are interested and get a chance, watch some of the SUPER METROID speedruns, though.. there are all sorts of exploits and tricks in every Metroid game -- maybe even Fusion -- because you always have moves that you never "acquire" and the manual never teaches you, like the bomb jump.. in SUPER METROID, you can completely skip every single boss except Mother BRain and beat the game in like 22 minutes with these exploits..)
