I love Bancamp. An obvious virtue is that it would let you stream in case you need to have a teaser in order to decide if you'd like to spend your money on some record, and If you finally wouldn't purchase it, you can listen to the whole thing for free due to the bands' will, forget about hunting down lossy rips on blogs and torrents. Also pretty useful to find some new stuff. I, for once, have spent a lot of money on Bancamp lately and I'm happy with it. It's a good platform for musicians to expose their work, and it pays in the sense that it would gain them some exposition and certainly some bucks as far as I know, contrary to other means of streaming like Spotify, for instance (Nathan Amudson, AKA Rivulets, tweeted a little while ago about Spotify's unfair practices, but his whole discography is up on Bandcamp)...
Some of my favorites:
Rivulet's whole discography available. New record, "We're Fucked", is gold. - http://chrystabell.bandcamp.com
David Lynch produced and wrote all of the songs in this awesome masterpiece. I'm addicted to Chrysta Bell. - http://noveller.bandcamp.com
Sarah Lipstate's flawless discography. - http://threelobed.bandcamp.com/
Tons of brilliant releases by one of the best labels currently. Lee Ranaldo's "Maelstrom From Drift", and Mirror/Dash's "I Can't Be Bought" are available here if you need them, plus stuff by MV+EE, Trey Gunn, Gown, Bardo Pond, Bark Haze, Spectre Folk, and more. - http://bruitlegs.bandcamp.com/
Live recordings of noise performances taped from the audience, but with awesome quality. Five installments so far: Keiji Haino, Library Tapes, Xiǎo Hé, Yán Jùn, and Moha! - http://gonzochicago.bandcamp.com
More live recordings, most of these documenting shows that took place in Chicago. There are great sets by Lightning Bolt, and Kurt Vile available there. - http://ellipticalnoise.bandcamp.com/
My Cat Is An Alien's label. - http://mikecooper.bandcamp.com/album...uitars-vol-one
Compilation of avantgarde guitarists killing it, with participation by Thurston Moore on track 2, "Slightly". - http://carbon-records.bandcamp.com/a...s-to-the-grass
Another compilation relevant to Thurston Moore completists, there's an instrumental piece by him on this one called "Anal Cry". - http://chromepeelerrecords.bandcamp.com/
Releases by Merzbow, Final Solution, etc... plus "You've Got Your Orders Vol. I" compilation, with a contribution by your most beloved guitar god.
Some of Steve Shelley's projects are also up on Bandcamp, but I feel i've typed a lot for now.
