I can see how you might think it's a modded out Oblivion, but a lot of the features that make it seem so (crafting, herb harvesting etc) came from mods that were incorporated into Fallout New Vegas.

that said...I typically don't dole out spoilers, but I had a fucking AWESOME videogame moment just now.

in doing quests to join the fighter's guild, I pulled a level in a dungeon that trapped me in a room. the NPC that was with me on this quest told me not to worry and began looking for a way to rescue me. all of a sudden he was surrounded by about 5 other hostile NPCs. I was ready to re-load to the start of the dungeon when MY npc flipped out, turned into a FUCKING WEREWOLF and rocked their shit.

top moment in video game history. sooooo fucking badass.

Yeah, happened to me, too. The guy's a member of the Companions. A group of lycanthrope mercenaries. I joined them. You may like to know you're given the choice of becoming a werewolf by drinking one of the member's blood. They pretty much insist if you want to be an integral part of their circle. Despite my criticism of Skyrim, I am slowly being enchanted by it.
