yeah, & i just saw a clip & Steve is in it.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0436231/

(i suppose this could go in go in the "Sonic Gossip" section as a result haha)

now i don't feel so bad about all the posts i made today because i would have been impelled to post about this appearance of Steve Shelley in the new Daniel Johnston documentary The Devil & Daniel Johnston anyway.

(a play on the Devil & Daniel Webster & i imagine, his parents as ignorant but affable Texans & Robert Johnson as well)

early daniel johnston is genius!!!

the latter stuff is good, but the earlier the better

my early stuff was my best too.. now that I can play, it's nothing all that special...but i suppose if i ever found a like-minded person to play drums though i could put my stuff out there still because it rocks on some level...it's the age-old problem, everyone wants to play guitar. When i have played with a drummer in the past, (just jamming though) some sort of strange magic takes over & I play stuff that pours right out of me. Add to my difficulties that I am not a good singer really, but as we all know that doesn't really matter if you can write good songs. I cannot. I have severe mental handicaps when it comes to writing any kind of song lyrics. So that means that in addition to finding some needle-in-a-haystack drummer, I would also have to find a dynamic frontperson.

when Thurston was named guitarist of the year after Goo he joked that he could play "a killer version of Red House maybe by the time I'm fifty."
Kim followed that up with this:
"what's interesting is the way people compensate."
