canada might not be far from chicago border wise, but once you get there you're in the middle of buttfuck nowhere great lakes ontario. the stretch between sault st marie and thunder bay where you'd be is nothing but lakes and trees, and you can drive hundreds of miles where there's no gas stations (keep a jerry can in the trunk, seriously)
straight west to toronto might be aight. but i've never had all that much fun in toronto personally
