Oh yeah, EIGHTY PERCENT of Detroit's remaining population is black. Just like Vallejo, and Stockton is predominantly brown. Interesting how all the actually bankrupted cities are not predominantly white, considering the racism inherent in the economic and political structures of the US. Yeah, I pulled the race card on this one, fuck y'all haters. Its not a coincidence that Vallejo and Detroit are forced into bankruptcy, meanwhile other cities in the past have received bail outs, readjustments, and other infusing of cash. However, generally speaking, America seems content to let 500,000 black folks fall off a cliff into oblivion, even though they've been paying their taxes and bills, and many of the public sector workers there have been contributing in faith that their pensions and retirement plans aren't on the chopping block. Bankruptcy allows for those commitments to be restructured out of existence. "And then the system wins again and will carry on winning until God knows when.."

I disagree. If anything, with all its pro-auto-industry history, I dare say Detroit it the OPPOSITE of any kind of liberal experiments. The predominant presence of public sector workers is not part of some massive liberal experiment,
it is the demographic reality of white flight. All the folks who could, moved out of the Detroit metropolitan area, and what remains are the people who can't leave. These generally include pubic sector workers who have invested their entire future into Detroit.
