He was an amazing actor. He pulled off the very difficult lead role in the larger than life Synecdoche, New York (One of my all-time favourite movies) with ease. PSH generally seemed like one of the most savvy actors in the business. There were hardly any critical failures in his resume (except Patch Adams and Along Came Polly). Many actors nowadays only wish they had his sense of judgement when it comes to taking part in certain projects.
