I spent most of the afternoon trying to help out my flatmate with organising an appointment with the Citizens Advice Bureau because she's been doing some trial work in a little cafe for 3 weeks, where everyone was nice to her, loved her work ethic etc, but still decided to get rid of her ''unoffically'', and now are making ridiculous excuses not to pay her the wages she's owed. They fucked her over, basically. Luckily her bf lives with us and is employed, so they just about manage to live a fairly decent life and are not in need to beg on the street. She's also not some dumb Slovenian immigrant, but a girl with a degree in journalism and a great command of the English language. Someone who comes from an intellectual middle class family environment with plenty access to information. Still....
