So you're using an NFL writer to back up your bitching about a space programme? Good going.
You seem to think that NASA are a drain on U.S government spending when the reality is that they get 0.50% of the annual federal budget. For what they're trying to do you can hardly blame them for complaining about budget problems.
Put it this way-I'd take NASA's collective knowledge over space exploration any day.
