well, maybe not then... i wasn't around but surely in the early years of rock n roll, and through the 60's i bet, the label/managers would be the ones giving it to them, cos they need something to keep them up and at it whent here touring and playing shows day in, day out. it only seems right, cos there was nothing they knew as to health problems, all they knew is it would do the trick.
