The latest message from Demand Progress regarding Net Neutrality Title II:
Quote:
WE DID IT! Thanks to your relentless activism, Senators Lisa Murkowski and John Kennedy have just joined Susan Collins and the entire Senate Democratic caucus and voted to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality!
They said it was a lost cause. They said that Big Cable's pockets were too deep and their lobbyists were too powerful. But you proved them wrong.
This is not over yet. Now the battle moves to the House of Representatives—where we have an even bigger fight. But with Republicans facing a tough midterm election and polls showing that 86% of voters support net neutrality, we can win.¹
Will you chip in $5 to continue the fight to save net neutrality?
The battle in the House is going to take several more months. By making a regular monthly donation, you will sustain this urgent campaign all the way through, building on today's massive victory.
The Senate's vote sent a strong message to Big Cable, Ajit Pai, and the White House—we aren't going to roll over and let them destroy the free and open internet.
And make no mistake, it took a lot of hard work on the part of our members to get to this point. When the FCC first proposed gutting net neutrality, 21 million people submitted comments, and the vast majority opposed the repeal. We helped drive millions of emails and phone calls to Congress. We staged rallies at their offices as recently as Monday.
This was how we won over the Senate. We got all 49 Senate Democrats to stand united, which is never a sure thing. And we got three Senate Republicans to join us, which is a huge accomplishment.
Now it’s on to the House. And while we only needed a few Republicans in the Senate to win, we need 24 in the House. That means organizing in many more places across America—with only a few months to pull it off.²
But there's too much at stake to stop now. If we lose, mega-corporations such as Verizon and Time Warner will be able to throttle, and worse, censor the internet at will, and we just cannot let that happen.
This is the fight of our lives. We've won the first vote—now it's time to win the whole thing. Will you commit to fighting with us until the end?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 to help save net neutrality.
Thanks for standing with us.
Robert Cruickshank,
Demand Progress
