I would have said Dinosaur Jr. firmly and stubbornly and maybe even defensively if you’d asked me in high school. But there’s so much more variety in Sevadoh’s work, and many of the best Dino tracks from latter-day Dino are Lou songs.
Dino is an excellent entry point, and a great band all around without qualification, but Sebadoh has just given me more.
It’s not a Minor Threat/Fugazi situation, where the latter is better in pretty much every conceivable way — not just better than the former, butt better than virtually anyone... But for me it’s a pretty easy choice.
