But these days you might get a better deal with the cheap flyers such as Ryanair if you plan smart. However you would still need to travel from the airport to the city and often Ryanair doesn't fly to the main airport. For instance the Ryanair airport for Düsseldorf in Germany is in the middle of nowhere and hours away from that town. So you would still need to pay extra for bus or train to get there, and on those flights you also need to pay extra for luggage. Add to that that those flights are often at stupid times like 6AM. So in the end, the interrail card could still be a better deal.
