i think you’re wrong in that. i mean at least with reasonable people, and with people who are so close to your positions it would be easier to bring them over to your side than to push them away.
and it’s not about civility as empty form, but about listening to what other people are telling you before you pitch to them.
if you choose to double down on the hard sell tactics that’s your “free expression” choice, but please realize that it affects our election.
