Blame it on the Internet.

I was in Champagne-Urbana (Illinois) a couple months ago. This place used to have a vibrant indie music scene. Poster Children started there. Now, no clubs, not even a damned record or CD store downtown or near campus. Nothing. I stopped in at a comic book store and asked the owner what the fuck was up, and he told me the local independent record stores couldn't take the competition from Internet sales and folded. In a campus town, no less!

I've said it before: Shop locally, people. Support your local independent record stores, or they may not be there one day.
