Well, I have a degree in economics and I can tell you that you have the general idea. Malnutrition and disease pretty much hinder a society from advancing and thus create poverty. Education, however, is a key and the important key to lasting change. People must understand malnutrition and disease before they can properly deal with these things. I also believe trade barriers are important because they can connect the struggling world to the well-to-do world and allow for the exchange of ideas and the products and services of change.
