Yeah I'm self-taught.....most drummers are. The best advice I can give is pretty obvious......practice, practice, practice. I also like to lift weights because it helps keep up my stamina. Pay attention to the beats/rhythms to everything you listen to and it's helpful to visualize where each sound is coming from the kit.....sounds kind of obvious, but the more aware you are to where each sound is coming from, the better/more precise you'll be. I'm always tapping out beats with my fingers like a nutcase, so that helps as well.
