Yeah the prime music locations are montreal, toronto, and vancouver. Good rap scene in vancouver actually, quite a few good beatmakers. Ottawa's horrid, don't come here.
And do you mean to live in canada or to live in montreal? Montreal can get expensive if you live downtown, but if you go to the outskirts there's plenty of cheap housing. The West island (Pointe-Claire) is also a high-profit area. Theres sooo many of those identical apartments that it's nearly impossible to navigate at some parts, and those are pretty cheap. You can get them for around 400CAD a month.
Ottawa's different; downtown has really cheap apartments (as low as $200CAD a month) but you wouldn't want to live there, all the hobo's hook themselves up with acid (there's a guy that goes around with a wagon full of drugs that you see occasionally) and they get pretty loud and aggressive, it would be difficult to sleep. There's cheap stuff on the quebec side in hull right close to my school. The condos go for $350/month for a 1 bedroom, and they're amazingly nice.
