I was labelling the styles I can play. Obviously, versatility means a lot. Most of the bands out there consist of playing Razorlight, or Kooks-esque music, where all the bassist does is play single notes. You don't need to even play bass very well to be able to get yourself going with the bass in that genre I singled out.
EDIT - Also, one who could play jazz styles on the bass effectively, they can apply that to other styles, which is how music evolved at the end of the day. Same goes with metal I suppose.
