I've had similar experiences as Savage Clone and T&B on this... I've never seen Kemialliset Ystavat (whom I consider to be the best of the "New Weird Finland" bunch) and I would like to see them, but most of the other Finnish bands that I've seen in 2006 didn't do much to me, definitely not in a positive way at least.
Paavoharjo being the worst of all... completely uninspired and looking terribly bored: plain awful.
Kiila, Es, Islaja (same Fonal tour as Katy mentioned above) during an afternoon set in Amsterdam looked like they had just come out of bed. A lacklustre performance and a total fuck-it mentality... no mindfucks I'm affraid, worst gig of 2006. I recently heard some stuff by Es again and I did enjoy that, but I don't necessarily have to see them live again. Ever.
Tomutonttu, if I was very harsh I'd say he was disappointing too, but to be fair he did have some technical problems and a really short set, so I'll refrain from judgement.
Avarus were ok-ish... not great and not as good as some of their recorded stuff I've heard, but a lot better than the rest.
Shogun Kunitoki - again I'll refrain from judgement because I only caught a few minutes of their set (at some festival) after being a bit turned off by the other Finnish bands I'd seen before.
I'm not slagging off the entire Finland scene and I still enjoy some of these bands on records, but I don't really care much anymore about seeing any of these live. I'd go see Kemialliset Ystavat if they played my town though.
Also, they are indeed completely unrelated (except for being Finnish) but last month I thoroughly enjoyed Circle... They were completely awesome, even better than most of the things I've seen at ATP the weekend before.
Lordi looked pretty sweet at the Eurovision Song Contest too.
