I actually made the mistake of buying a 3" cd by that Kevin Shields under the impression it was the MBV guy (he did some solo stuff for the Lost in Translation soundtrack that was pretty good under his own name.) I suppose that's why they picked the name, but I ended up throwing the disc away. I listen to a fair amount of noise stuff, but they honestly struck me as unfocused to the point of complete disinterest. I didn't know until now that it wasn't another guy who happened to have the same name. That makes me appreciate the joke a bit more, but I don't exactly miss the disc for it.
