I used to have a hard time understanding people who see things like you do. I always saw it as racism. Now I understand that it's just a matter of getting comfortable with people who aren't exactly like you. Everybody is different, and the more you immerse yourself into other people's lives and really get to know them, the less awkward it will feel.

I absolutely love your signature, and I quoted it just a few days ago. But yeah, when I was very little I used to be racist, not knowing that it was a horrible thing. It was in grade 1 and 2, and my friend's friend was black, and he always made fun of me, so in retort I called him "dirty". I feel absolutely horrible about it now, and I could see why he doesn't like it. In addition, my stepdad is also racist. I mean, I guess instances that happened when growing up influences the perception in the future. I'm definitely not racist, but I can't say I feel as comfortable around a black person as I am with white people. I guess it's just natural because I live in a community that's caucasian dominant.
