Why do people from the north of England take the phrase "The Northern Scum" so personally? It's capitalised for a reason, you know, it's a term of disaffection for a particular football club, whose name I cannot bring myself to utter, and its fans. It's no different to describing another team, from the north-east, as The Smog Monsters.
For the record, Liverpudlians, individually, are, indeed, fine people. En masse, wearing red shirts, they are Scouse Bastards.
