if it is recording you will be able to see a visual of the waveform when you go into the editing part of thing. playback, could be your cable, or it could be a solder join internally which is fairly easy to fix if you can solder and or can follow a pcb layout. there are more things that can go wrong but they are the simplest of them. if a capacitor is fucked then that is a much harder job to fix but still completely fixable. how much did you pay for this unit??? i wouldn't have paid more than 75 au myself.
