Well the art show was a total bust. I didn't win in my category (Painting) so obviously I didn't even have a shot at Best in Show either. They picked two Best in Show winners because they couldn't decide on just one. It ended up being two people who have been there for a long time, much longer than me. The presenter (who is my current teacher) said that they picked two students who they have been able to see grow and progress in their artwork over the past few years, and who always assist in these art shows and that sort of thing. When they were announcing the winners, they only announced their names, so there was no way of knowing what piece of art they actually did that won the award. That pissed me off, and the fact that all of the obvious people won made it sort of anticlimactic. I'm not saying they therefore didn't deserve to win, but a lot of these people had work entered in different categories, and so all the same people were winning the whole night. It just seemed very biased and a lot of good stuff got passed over. I didn't expect to win anything, but I am a bit put off that a lot of other deserving people were shafted, in favor of the people who have just "been there the longest". And I still have no idea what they actually won for. That alone made it seem like they chose the awards based on who was responsible for it rather than the work itself.
