yeah, sorry i couldn't help it. they were really that good.
daniel johnston was . . . . daniel johnston. i enjoyed him. a lot.
mogwai were alright. . . . . okay they were shit.
I liked the tall firs a lot although i was pretty fucked by that point so my memory of it is hazy. i've bought the cd since and it is good.
I better not say too much about Subtitle because he was that special i will have to revert to the sexy metaphors . . . i will say however that the next morning we hooked up with that crazy loon at the shellac gig. he started going off on one about his love for sonic youth and we were in heavenly mutual agreement. so much so that he ended up coming back to our chalet to buy weed because he didn't want to bring any on the plane with him.
Shellac were just about the best thing i saw all weekend. but i could've told you that before i went. Their second show on the sunday was on the better stage but was a less impassioned performance. Bob told us he had taken 8 nurofen. Todd started on some dude in the crowd who kept shouting 'you suck'. Proper ripped in to the fucker. beautiful.
The go! team pleased the hell out of my face and limbs . . .
Battles clashed with Ghost so i missed them, but you already know my feelings about ghost so i don't care about that. although i did hear many a good thing about that battles show.
Patti smith was patti smith . . . still rocking strong.
Saw Trans Am late sat night and was nicely surprised with what i caught. I've always heard good things . . . yeah, i might have to look into some of their stuff. any recommendations where to start?
On sunday we saw the headache shellac show.
Then slint. Who i fucking love. but who sounded a bit shit on that pavillion stage with all its fucking echoing and lost sound etc. Doesn't matter though. I'll get to see them properly in august.
Modest Mouse were crap.
Isis were bloody stupid. But i liked that.
The whole thing finished off perfectly with Do Make Say Think. Who I've been a big fan of for a while now but not had the chance to see. Played all the right songs and played them beautifully so that they are still in my head now almost a week later. Definately one of the highlights.
All very worth it. Drove home with a very large erection . . . shit, sorry.
