i don't think getting guitar lessons from someone would benefit me more than it would reading a guitar magazine, even if the player was not technique based; for the most part, either the guy/girl will teach you how he/she does things step by step or tell you to "find your own sound".

now, if i could have a talk with someone about playing to know what the person feels and intends when doing so, it will not only help you understand what he/she does but will make you discover things in your own playing without resorting to copying their style.

a better question would be "if you haven't played guitar ever and wanted to start learning the instrument, which 3 guitar players would you choose to do so?" but still, it would lead to "if you wanted to rip off 3 guitar players' styles, who would it be?"
