It isn't Newsom's voice that puts me off her music. In fact, her singing at times reminds me of Kristin Hersh (whom I am a big fan of).
Instead, I'm just not a fan of folk that has no message and no rock or blues influence. It bores me. Like something I would listen to for the sake of a girlfriend or something and tell her that I love it just so I could get some action.
Anyway, is it just me or is there some vocal pitch modification at the beginning of Sawdust & Diamonds?
