if you don't want them to mess with it, and you can spend a little $, you could buy a firewire interface instead, which would allow you multiple mics and the use of multitrack audio software...

i wouldn't recommend you try to open up the laptop yourself though, those can be tricky & hard to put back together, and void your warranty... it's a pity but yest it's a 50 cent piece of crap that it's runing a $2000 computer.

the firewire interface would be better than your audio card though, i think.

i don't think i understand that firmware interface thing's function.
i'll see what i can do...
a guy gave me the address of a place called MacSoul here in Buenos Aires. they fix apple computers for free if you are in the period of warranty. so i'll see what happens tonight. if it definitely is the sound card or something from inside the macbook i'll have to call there.
but i find it quite doubtful that they repair them for free...
