I'm back! There are a gazillion stories I could tell about the month long Night Wounds tour, but instead I'll just mention some highlights..4th of July was in Chicago, and fireworks were going off everywhere all day long. We accidently lit a firecracker off by a gang member, who said he was "coming back for us" so we ran away and went swimming at a segregated pool. Then later that night a really cool band with members of Coughs played..forget the name. A week later was my first time to NYC, and it ruled! I did an interview on Make The Product on WNYU and you can hear it here: WNYU Archives (scroll down to Wednesday July 18th, Make the Product). It was a blast, Jacqueline is really sweet. The next day I got to finally meet Lucas Crane aka Non-Horse and Jeremy Earl, of Fuck It Tapes/Shepherds/Meneguar fame. I had to sleep in the van so I missed out on a Night Wounds/Blues Control/Jeremy Earl late-night jam in the Silent Barn basement. But it was recorded! Firday the 13th was at the Cake Shop and there was an amazing Blues Control/Mouthus/Awesome Color collab set.
After that we teamed up with Pittsburgh psych jam band Midnite Snake and played 4-5 shows with them. They're really hairy and old, but I love them! Nicest guys with ZZ Top beards I know. The south ruled but was hottttt. Night Wounds were supposed to play on a pedestrian bridge in Austin, TX, but Finally Punk and Total Abuse cancelled. Still had a good time though. A few days later we went to Juarez, Mexico. Much more expensive and much scarier too. Not for tourists. The Phoenix show was everything I hoped it would be. Got to hang out with James Fella a little bit. Nicest dude ever! Soft Shoulder killed it, then we drove to my mom's house and got the AC treatment.
Met Don Bolles of Germs fame at the LA show, and got invited to his private birthday party on August 4th!! (We have the same birthday!!). The rest of the shows after that were with Twin Crystals, my new favorite Vancouver band behind Shearing Pinx. Jesse reminds me of McFly Senior of Back to the Future fame. DAM House in Davis, CA treated us to pizza from every pizza joint in the city. Met DJ Rick finally.
There are a million other stories to tell..mainly of Night Wounds beating the shit out of me in the van (I wasn't called by my real name for a week and a half).. but I think the NW tour dvd will tell the story better than I can. If any bands need a roadie/merch guy, I'm down. So much fun! I met so many awesome people! Stay in touch everyone! Anyway, the Gay Beast LP and Shepherds 7" are both out now and selling fast. I'm closing the mailorder in a week or two while I move to my new apartment in LA, so PLEASE make lots of orders before then so I have less records to move and more food/rent money!
DNT023 - Shepherds "Bush Babies" 7" $5ppd US/Canada $11ppd International
Vinyl debut by Brooklyn's Shepherds. Originally this was going to be used for the DNT 3" series, but it was far too long to be used for a 3" split, so we decided to upgrade it to a 7"! The best way to describe them would be free-form psych-drone, with different tape effects thrown in their too. Members of Woods, Non-Horse, Wooden Wans and others. Pro-printed full-color glue pocket sleeves. Pressing of 500. 50ish on Black. 100 on Gold. 350ish on White. (The plant fucked up and pressed the 400 white on black in error, so I have to send back the black, BUT for the next week or two black will be available, after that, you'll have to wait a few months, so order now!)

DNT024 - Gay Beast "Disrobics" LP $10ppd US/Canada $18ppd International
Somebody give me some dope. (Just kidding mom) DNT has finally entered the LP realm--and all this time you thought we were only going to release cdrs and cassettes. "Disrobics" was originally self-released on CD by the band, but I felt it needed to be heard on vinyl. Gay Beast are a skronky neo-wave group of kiddos from Minneapolis, Minnesota and if you're lucky you can catch them on their US tour this summer! Silk screened covers and black vinyl. Pressing of 500.
