These two aren't recent. In fact they are from some time ago, but the feeling of being conned is as strong as ever.

Get Shorty. I wasn't expecting anything amazing, but I did think that it would at least be watchable. It's the only film that has ever made me (or my parrtner) walk out of a cinema before the end. Dreadful, dreadful film.

The Mummy Returns. We watched this on video because a friend told us it was quite good and lent it to us. We actually were expecting it to be pretty bad but I have to say that I had no idea of exactly how bad it was going to be. I was shocked. I never realised any film could be quite so dreadful.

The Mummy Returns is the worse of the two, but it's a children's blockbuster that's not attempting any great artistic merit. Get Shorty is supposed to be proper film, so the awfulness of it is more of a crime.
